Charlotte Jean Schenk, 93, of Waubeek, passed away Friday, Dec. 16, 2016, at her home. Memorial gathering: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City. Private family inurnment: Jordan's Grove Cemetery, Central City.
Charlotte is survived by her daughters, Janice Holscher of Lincoln, Neb., and Linda (Chuck) Van De Vegte of Central City; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Schenk; six grandchildren, Ed (Cheryl) Nielson, Jamie (Grace) Schenk, Renee (Wayne) Masters, Amie (Steve) Rahn, Tamie Rogers and Randy (Brandi) Van De Vegte; several great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald; and son, Jerry.
Charlotte was born Jan. 6, 1923, in Marion, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Ruby (Merritt) Miles. On Oct. 13, 1940, in Marion, she married Gerald Frederick Schenk. Charlotte enjoyed knitting, cooking, playing cards, dancing, going to the farmers market and spending time at the cabin. She also was an avid Hawkeye fan. For over 20 years, Charlotte enjoyed the Tuesday Coffee Ladies.
A memorial fund has been established in Charlotte's memory.
