Harden, Chris Finley
Chris Finley Harden, 55, of Williamsburg and formerly of Iowa City died peacefully Monday, Dec. 14, 2009 at home of cancer.
To celebrate Chris' life her family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice or the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at UIHC.
Chris and her twin sister, Cathy, were born Jan. 1, 1954 in Iowa City, the daughters of Orlie and Therese Dimpfl Finley. Chris was a 1972 graduate of West High School. Chris married Dan Mattes in November 1987. Dan died in 2006. In August 2007 Chris was united in marriage to Jack Harden.
Chris was employed for nineteen years as a clerk in nursing service at UIHC. Prior to that she was a veterinary technician at Iowa City Animal Clinic.
Chris was a member of the Johnson County Archers and Old Capitol Quilters Guild. She loved to bake and garden, especially flowers, and to mow the yard on her riding lawn mower. Chris and Jack enjoyed time spent motorcycling on Jack's Harley. Chris had a wonderful sense of humor and zest for life. She will be fondly missed by all her family and friends.
Chris is survived by her loving husband Jack; her sister, Cathy (George) Jaques of Mt. Pleasant; two brothers, Charles Dean (Elaine) Finley of Winthrop, Maine and Michael (Terri) Finley of Iowa City; stepson, Shawn Harden of Waterloo; extended family and friends; and her fat cat, Bailey and miniature pinscher, Mattie Mae.
