DES MOINES — Wednesday's games at the girls' state basketball tournament at Wells Fargo Arena:
CLASS 4A QUARTERFINAL
No. 7 MARION (19-4) vs. No. 3 HARLAN (20-2)
* Time: 11:45 a.m.
* Tournament history: Marion has qualified for the third time, the first time since 2010. Harlan is a 13-time qualifier and is the two-time defending 4A champion.
* Coaches: Corby Laube is 55-35 in four seasons as the Marion girls' coach. Zach Klaassen has posted a 95-5 record in four seasons at Harlan.
* Top players: Chloe Rice (5-10, soph.) leads a young Marion squad. She averages 14.3 points per game. Mia Laube (5-9, soph.) adds 9.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. Harlan is led by University of South Dakota signee Taylor Frederick (6-1, sr.), who averages 17.9 points and 9.1 boards per contest. She shoots 55.2 percent from the floor. Jordyn Moser (5-7, sr.) adds 16.2 points per contest.
CLASS 5A QUARTERFINAL
No. 6 LINN-MAR (19-4) vs. No. 5 INDIANOLA (22-1)
* Time: 1:30 p.m.
* Tournament history: Linn-Mar is at state for the seventh time, the first since 2011. The Lions won the 4A title in 2010. Indianola is making its sixth appearance, its second in a row.
* Coaches: Jaime Brandt has compiled a 35-12 mark in two seasons at Linn-Mar. Bert Hanson is 121-104 in 10 seasons at Indianola.
* Top players: University of Iowa signee Amanda Ollinger (6-1, sr.) paces Linn-Mar at 17.5 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. Kamryn Finley (5-8, soph.) adds 12.3 points per contest. Youth carries Indianola. Grace Berg (6-0, sr.) leads the way at 17.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. She shoots 65.6 percent from the floor. Maggie McGraw (5-11, fr.) adds 13.9 points per game.
