McDowell, Clarence 'Bud' M.
Clarence “Bud” M. McDowell, 70, of Cedar Rapids, died April 7, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center following a short illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 11, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Beth Mary Harbaugh of St. James United Methodist Church will officiate. Visitation will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Pat; children, Marty McDowell and wife Jenny of Knoxville, Tina Stripling of Springville, Kelly Monahan of Cedar Rapids and Lori McDowell of Cedar Rapids; stepchildren, Brian Wise and wife Carrie of Andover, Minn., and Amy Wise of Cedar Rapids; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Laura Mae, Mary and Connie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dick; sisters, June and Rosie; mother-in-law, Jan Jorgenson; and stepson, John Wise.
Bud was born Aug. 19, 1940, in Ottumwa, the son of Clarence M. and Elsie (Richards) McDowell. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He was employed for over 39 years as a millwright at Ralston Foods. He was united in marriage to Patricia (Wild) Wise on July 1, 1995, in Cedar Rapids. For the last several years Bud enjoyed his job at Amana Colonies Golf Course as a groundskeeper.
He enjoyed bowling, golfing and time spent with his family.
He will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Bud's honor.
