Behne, Gerold Eugene 'Bud'
Gerold Eugene “Bud” Behne, 80, of Calamus, died Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at home. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 18, at Christian Free Lutheran Church, Wheatland. Pastor Scott Gray will officiate. Burial: Rose Hill Cemetery, Calamus. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 17, at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland.
Born May 28, 1932, in Dodge County, Minn., the son of Louie and Laura (Miller) Behne, he married Marian Thomas in Grand Mound on Jan. 6, 1951. She died March 15, 2012.
Bud enjoyed fishing, hunting, nature shows, and going out to eat. He was a member of the Chrisian Free Lutheran Church in Wheatland, and retired in 1988 after spending 23 years as a welder for the Caterpillar Tractor Co.
He is survived by two sons, Randy (Jennifer Rinas) of Tipton and Keith Behne of Clinton; two daughters, Cathy (Brian) Licht of Olin and Diana (Geno) Samuel of DeWitt; granddaughter, Tia Samuel; two stepgrandsons; two stepgreat-granddaughters; sisters, Geri Schutt of Calamus and Marvel Hamann of Lost Nation; brothers, Lester (Marge) Behne of Wheatland, Lyle (Donna) Behne) of Milan, Ill., and Larry (Janice) Behne of Lowden; sisters-in-law, Gertrude Behne of Baldwin and Josephine Behne of Oxford Junction; and special friend, Betty Schau.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers, Orville and Leo Behne; sister, Gladys Morahn; two brothers-in-law, Ralph Hamann and Bob Schutt; and a stepgrandson, Matthew Rinas.
