Simon, Judith A.
Judith A. Simon, 53, of 1951 162nd Ave., Manchester, passed away 8:20 a.m. Thursday, June 14, 2012, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, surrounded by her family. Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, June 18, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Farley, with the Rev. Dennis Cain officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Farley. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Reiff Funeral Home in Farley, where a wake service will be held at 4 p.m. Friends may also call after 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Judith was born June 23, 1958, in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of John Bell and Helen (Kirpes) Bell Naber. She was a 1976 graduate of Western Dubuque High School. She married the love of her life, Martin A. Simon, on April 18, 1980. Marty was her best friend and soul mate who was her devoted caregiver throughout her illness.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Marty Simon of Manchester; two daughters, Kelly (Todd) Dighton of Davenport and Katey Simon of Cedar Rapids; her precious grandson,“Handsome” Harrison George Dighton; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary Kay Wolfe of Clinton, Ill., Anna Mae (Glen) Hardin of Peosta, George (Dorann) Simon, Jean Ann Neyen, Donna (Joseph) Daly, Lois (Paul) Rauen, Roger (Darlene) Simon and Betty, Connie and Sandy Simon, all of Farley; three sisters; two brothers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Henry Naber; her mother- and father-in-law, George and Mary Simon; brothers-in-law, Richard Wolfe and Robert Neyen; and great-nephew, Dylan Hoefer.
A Judith Simon Memorial Fund has been established.
