Jean Reid, 81, of Mount Vernon, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2015, at her home following an extended illness. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 7, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Friends may visit one hour before the service, beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday at the chapel. Interment will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Jean was born Sept. 18, 1933, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of William L. and Doris (Getlin) Reid. Jean attended Springville High School and graduated with the class of 1951. She worked at Welch-Cook-Beal's for about eight years and Rockwell Collins for 43 years. Jean loved going dancing, playing bingo in Martelle and visiting the family farm. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Jean is survived by her sister, Carolyn Lazenby; a brother, Michael (Sandy) Reid, both of Marion; sister-in-law, Patricia Reid of Cedar Rapids; nieces and nephews; and her special pet, Tiny.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, George L. Reid.
The family would like to thank Christa Snider, Annette Clothier and Sara Jordan of Mercy Hospice and Georgia Foss for their love, support and tender care given to Jean.
