Noble, David R.
David R. Noble, 78, of Douds, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Dec. 16, 2010, at Good Samaritan Hospice, Keosauqua. He was born March 2, 1932, in Indianapolis, Ind. and married Mary Jensen June 2, 1956, in Elyria, Ohio. He graduated from Ohio University and did graduate work at Oberlin School of Theology and University of Iowa, served in the U.S. Navy 1956-57 and was Minister of Music in St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids, for 27 years and First Presbyterian Church, Fairfield, for 20 years. He was a member of Christ United Methodist, Masonic Lodge, Eastern Stars and American Legion, all in Douds.
Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Kathy Smith of Coralville, Debbie Finney of Keosauqua, and Mary Kimpston of Clive; five grandchildren; and two brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Christ United Methodist Church, Douds, with Rev. Ann Donat, Rev. Richard Wallarab and Rev. Hal Noble officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Mt. Moriah Cemetery north of Douds. Visitation will open at 1 p.m. Sunday at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with family present from 3 to 5 p.m. Masonic rites will follow the visitation.
