Marie Agnes Smith was born May 18, 1916, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Frank Jerome and Josephine Agnes (Fencel) Kotlinek. She was a graduate of St. Patrick High School. She married George Wayne Smith on July 3, 1943, in Cedar Rapids. She was an owner of Iowa Steel Express.
Marie was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids and part of St. Anthony's Study Club. She was a Camp Fire leader for several years. Marie enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with her dogs. Still in her own home, she loved baking, spending time with her grandchildren, and shoe shopping.
Grandma was a dear friend and a sweet lady. Anyone who met her remembered and loved her. Her dogs and grandchildren meant the world to her, and she did everything she could for them. Granny will be missed, but we must “Go with the Flow.”
We love you lots Grandma, and we miss your sass already. “God has you in His keeping. We have you in our hearts.” - Love, your family
