Smith, Mary R.
MARION - Mary R. Smith, 85, of Willow Gardens, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, after an extended illness. Memorial services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids, where friends may call after 10:30 a.m. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include three daughters, Laura (David) Andersen of Marion, Julie Clancy of Hiawatha, and Lissa (Bill) Pearson of Cedar Rapids; one son, John, and his fiancee, Jackie Dunlap, of Marble Rock; two brothers, Floyd Bradshaw Jr. of Toulon, Ill., and Paul Bradshaw of Morton, Ill.; and two sisters, Betty McDonald of Anaheim, Calif., and Lynette Smith of Red Bud, Ill. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters and one brother.
Mary was born Jan. 24, 1925, in Illinois, the daughter of Floyd and Emma (Gholson) Bradshaw. She married Leon I. Smith on May 24, 1975, in Cedar Rapids. They both enjoyed traveling extensively, especially their trips to Hawaii. Leon died in 2003. Mary worked at Sears and retired from there after 25 years of service.
She was a member of the VFW and American Legion auxiliaries, several bridge and card clubs, El Kahir Women's Auxiliary and was the former Volunteer of the Year for Linn County. She enjoyed bowling, bingo, card games and especially the time she shared with her friends and beloved family.
Memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Mercy or the Alzheimer's Foundation.
