Volunteers at Habitat site are an inspiration

The number of individuals and groups in our community willing to serve others over self is remarkable. On a recent Saturday, members of the ITC Midwest team joined Habitat for Humanity to lay sod and install shrubbery at a new home on a flood-impacted Cedar Rapids lot on I Avenue NW.
Many readers undoubtedly know from firsthand experience that, for us amateurs, laying sod is pretty heavy-duty work! But the individuals on the site served with smiles all day long. The generous and cooperative spirit I felt that day, while difficult to describe in words, is indicative of what makes our community great.
I know that many other non-profit leaders join me in thanking the thousands of groups and individuals, like those from ITC Midwest, who give back on a daily basis. Through your financial gifts and volunteer efforts, you truly help to change lives. The joy expressed by our Habitat partner family, as they worked alongside our wonderful volunteers that day, drawing ever closer to the completion of their dream home, is all the proof we need.
