Boss, Helen Edna
Helen Edna Boss, 95, a resident of Monticello Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, died there Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013. Funeral Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at Peace Lutheran Church, Ryan. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Central City, and one hour before the service at the church. Graveside Service: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Kay Lee (Thomas) Grunst of Yuma, Ariz., Joyce Rigby of Monticello and John Boss of Hopkinton; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ed (Velda) Brokens of Monticello.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Boss; and two brothers, Bob and Kenny Brokens.
Helen was born Aug. 10, 1918, the daughter of William and Anna (Balster) Brokens. She was united in marriage to Edward Boss on Oct. 26, 1938, in Monticello, Iowa. She was an active member at Peace Lutheran Church in Ryan. She was a loving wife and mother.
