Washler, Charles H.
Charles H. Washler, 92, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, after a lengthy illness. Services: 1 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories by Stacia Fine. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors. Friends may call at the Chapel after 12:30 p.m. Friday.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Ann, whom he loved dearly; children, Mary Ellen (Bob) Verti, Steven (Becky) Washler, Kay (Earl) Lollis; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Donna Mae Davis.
Chuck was born Feb. 12, 1920, to Hazel and Louis Washler in DeKalb County, Ind. Chuck attended Cincinnati Bible College and Purdue. He served in the South Pacific in World Wae II. He married Mary Ann Mowen in 1947, who he met in church camp. They relocated to Cedar Rapids in 1950. He worked as an insurance adjuster, until his retirement in 1985.
He enjoyed camping, traveling and his passion, fishing. He was a lifelong member of the Christian Church and held many leadership roles as well as a member of the American Legion. Chuck was a loving husband, father and friend who will be missed greatly.
A memorial fund has been established.
