Johnson County Democratic primary set
Mar. 28, 2018 8:39 pm, Updated: May. 12, 2018 1:38 pm
IOWA CITY - The ballot is all but set for the Johnson County Democratic primary, and once again no Republicans or Libertarians have filed to run for county seats on the ballot.
Incumbents county Supervisors Mike Carberry and Janelle Rettig both are seeking re-election to the two open seats on the board.
Pat Heiden, former executive director of the Oaknoll Retirement Residence, also is seeking the Democratic nomination for county supervisor.
Supervisors run at-large in Johnson County, meaning the two top votergetters will advance to the Nov. 6 general election.
Additionally, county Recorder Kim Painter, Treasurer Tom Kriz and County Attorney Janet Lyness all file for re-election. All are unopposed.
The ballot will be finalized after the March 30 deadline to withdraw. Challenges to nomination papers may be filed with the county until April 2.
The Republican and Libertarians parties can still nominate candidates for county posts at conventions later this year.
