In response to a successful inaugural event last year, Four Oaks announces that it is now accepting reservations for Cuisine in the Corn.
Introduced last year, the unique experience includes an all-Iowa dinner at Bloomsbury Farm near Atkins on Saturday, August 25. Transported by hayrack, diners are transported deep into a cornfield where there is one long, elegantly-adorned table. An Iowa wine-tasting kicks off the evening at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at approximately 7:00 p.m.
Attendees from last year's event report that few things can equal the beauty…or irony…of a gourmet meal in an Iowa cornfield. Most diners were native Iowans and noted that although cornfields were a natural part of their upbringing, the Cuisine in the Corn experience was unlike any other.
Cost is $75 per person ($85 after August 10) and reservations can be made at www.fouroaks.org. With seating limited to 150 guests, organizers expect the event to be a sell-out.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Four Oaks, one of the state's largest child welfare, juvenile justice and behavioral health agency. Headquartered in Cedar Rapids, Four Oaks and its affiliates serve more than 14,000 children and families in all 99 Iowa counties.
