Ethel Linkletter Howig, 89, of Grinnell, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Dec. 22, 2014, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Grinnell.
Memorials may be directed to St. Paul's Episcopal Church (garden project), Grinnell Country Club (No. 2 tee box garden) or to Grinnell Regional Medical Center and sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home, P.O. Box 368, Grinnell, IA 50112.
Mrs. Howig was raised in Cedar Rapids and graduated from Cedar Rapids Roosevelt High School. After graduating from the University of Iowa, she was married to Donald Howig and the couple made their home in Grinnell.
She is survived by her children, Debby (Paul) Pohlson of Grinnell, Jody (Randy) Kelley of Marion and Bob (Linda) Howig of Sunnyvale, Texas; five grandchildren, Sarah (Dustin) Smith of Grinnell, Scott (Amy) Pohlson of Vermillion, S.D., Meghan Kelley of Marion, Tiffany Howig and Daylan Howig, both of Sunnyvale, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Alex and Josie Smith and Olivia and Will Pohlson; and two sisters-in-law, Marlyss Kuenzel and Joan Otterman Linkletter.
