Breidenbach, Dorothy M.
Dorothy M. Breidenbach, 82, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Clinton, died Friday, Aug. 12, 2011, at her home. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, at First Baptist Church, Clinton. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Pape Funeral Home, Clinton, and after noon Wednesday at the church. Burial: Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, Ill. Casket bearers will be her grandsons.
Dorothy was born Sept. 8, 1928, in Champaign, Ill., the daughter of Alfred and Mamie (Hendershot) Shipley. She married Elwood Breidenbach on March 15, 1947, in Champaign; he died in 2009. Dorothy was a homemaker and had worked at Mercy Hospital in admitting.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Clinton Lions Auxiliary, and active with the Girl Scouts. She enjoyed needlepoint, making Christmas ornaments, and researching family genealogy.
Dorothy is survived by her six children, Larry (Tim Michelsen) Breidenbach of McHenry, Ill., Vicky (Russ) Warner of Cedar Rapids, Cindy (John) Langford of Winter Garden, Fla., Lindy (Patrick) Killean of Cedar Rapids, Gail (Jeff) Leggett of Cedar Rapids and Carla (Greg) Warner of Madison, Ind.; 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Marion) Shipley of Champaign, Ill.; and two sisters, Darlene (Bill) Parish of Seneca Falls, N.Y., and Carolyn (David) Dillman of Champaign, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a grandson, Nathan.
Memorials may be given to First Baptist Church, Clinton, or Clinton Lions Club.
