Newsome, Walter
Walter Newsome, 78, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, in his home. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW.
Walter was born Sept. 16, 1934, in Cleburne, Texas, the son of Lawrence and Elsie (Kerr) Newsome. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict. Walter worked in the Circus on setups, where he met his wife Sharon. To this union two sons, Kevin and Kyle were born. Walter worked for Fort Worth Star Telegram for many years. After Sharon died he met Lindy Snider and they moved to Iowa in 2003.
Walter is survived by his sister, Jackie Ratliff of Iowa City; sons, Kevin (Sarah) Newsome of Fort Worth and Kyle (Sharon) Newsome of Riverside, Calif.; his grandchildren; and his loving companion, Lindy of Cedar Rapids; and her two children.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sharon; and his brother.
