Railsback, Tom
Tom Railsback, 77, of Canyon Lake, Texas, was called home Monday, Jan. 24, 2011.
Tom was born May 7, 1933, in Audubon, Iowa, to his parents, Thomas A. Railsback and Mildred (Hootman) Railsback. Tom proudly served his country during the Korean War by enlisting in the U.S. Navy. He was stationed aboard the USS Iowa. After the war, Tom owned and operated several small businesses in Mechanicsville, Iowa. On May 8, 1961, Tom married his wife of 49 years, Karen (Galleger) Railsback.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Glen; his sister, Jean; and a grandson, Shane Detwiler.
Tom is survived by his wife, Karen Railsback; sons, Mike Railsback and his wife, Cheryl, Philip Railsback, and Greg Railsback and his companion, Jean Myers; grandchildren, Steven Railsback and Brandi McKnight; great-grandchildren, Colton McKnight, Audie and Aiden Detwiler, Kaitlyn McKnight and Abigail Detwiler; and one brother, Charles Railsback.
A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in Canyon Lake. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Canyon Lake.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shane Detwiler Foundation at or the charity of one's choice.
