McShane, Genevieve Bader
Genevieve Bader McShane, 97, of Cedar Rapids died peacefully Sunday, April 7, 2013, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Mass of the Christian Burial: 10 a.m. Thursday, April 11, at St. Matthew's Catholic Parish officiated by the Rev. David Beckman. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. today at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, with a vigil service at 6:30 p.m. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include sister, Ruth Anne Hargin of Cedar Rapids; brother, Ray Bader of Casper, Wyo.; granddaughter, Leslie (Matt) Rivellese and children Blake, Will, Gabi and Sofie of Alexandria, Va.; grandson, Jay (Amy) and son Cameron of Alexandria, Va.; son-in-law, Kiah Warden of Herndon, Va.; numerous nieces and nephews; and her dear friends at the Cedars Apartments.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul in 1982; daughter, Linda Warden in 2007; brothers, Robert, Donald and Ralph Bader; and sister Helen Strother.
Genevieve was born Dec. 24, 1915 in Monticello, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas and Ana (Oswald) Bader. She married Paul McShane on Oct. 26,1939, in Anamosa. Genevieve was employed by J.C. Penney for many years. She was a devout Catholic and an active member of St. Matthews Catholic Parish, including St. Bernadette's Circle. She worked tirelessly on many funeral dinners at the church.
Genevieve will be remembered for her quick wit, humor, and boundless energy. She lived a full, productive life and loved to reminisce about her family and experiences.
