McShane, Lela Jane
Lela Jane McShane, 83, of Luana, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien, Wis.
Jane was born May 1, 1930, to Leslie and Katie Borret (Oherle) Nichols in rural Monona, Iowa. They lived in the rural Big Foot area for a few years and then moved to the Sixteen area. Jane attended grade school in Sixteen at Linton No. 4. She attended Waterville High School.
Jane was united in marriage to Donald McShane on Oct. 21, 1947, at the Luana Methodist Church. To this union two children were born, Tonya Jane and Kevin Blake.
Jane worked as a postal clerk in Luana and in fashion merchandising in Cedar Rapids and Dubuque. Jane worked for 3M in Prairie du Chien the last 25 years before retiring in 1992.
She enjoyed raising her family and taught Sunday Bible school at Living Faith United Methodist Parish in Monona. After retiring, Jane loved to crochet, embroider, quilt and spend time gardening.
Jane is survived by her two children, Tonya (Robert) McShane Hardy of Malibu, Calif., and Kevin (Debra) McShane of Mobile, Ala.; two granddaughters, Kelly (Brent) Greenwald and Katie McShane, and two great-granddaughters, Lauren McShane Greenwald and Addie McShane Greenwald.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her parents; two brothers, Kenneth and Clark; and one sister, Beatrice (Vincent) Ambrose.
Memorials may be made in Jane's honor to the M-F-L Ambulance Service.
Visitation will be Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Monona, and one hour before services at the church on Saturday. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, at Living Faith United Methodist Parish in Monona, with the Rev. Dennis Hopes as officiant. Interment will be at Sixteen Cemetery, rural Monona. Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Monona, is helping the family with arrangements.
