Letter: Force candidates to share tax returns

We keep hearing, week after week, about President Donald Trump not making his taxes available to the public.
This is a problem that is simple to solve. All that needs to be done is states to pass laws that anyone running for public office (including president of the United States) must reveal their current tax returns before they are allowed to be placed on the ballot in that state.
I think this is an easy fix and would force hold outs to come forward.
I would like to hear other views on this important subject.
