ROBERT PHILLIP MELTON Cedar Rapids Robert Phillip Melton, 89, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Manor Care following a short illness. Services: 10 a.m. Friday at Teahen Funeral Home by Pastor Randy Scheil. Burial: Czech National Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday. Bob is survived by two stepsons, Russ (Kathy) Telecky of Cedar Rapids and Ron (Gloria) Telecky of Mount Vernon; four grandchildren, Aaron (Beth) Telecky of Cedar Rapids, Kyle Telecky of Mount Vernon, Meagan (Matt) Sheehan of St. Louis Park, Minn., and Andrew Telecky of Flemingsburg, Ky.; 14 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Carol Melton of Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn; brother, Fred; and sister, Mary Doggett. Bob was born June 13, 1928, in Centerville, the son of Albert and Carrie Parcel Melton. He graduated from Centerville High School in 1946. Bob then enlisted in the Army after high school and that was followed with four years in the Air Force. He married Marilyn Kelly Telecky on Jan. 1, 1957. She passed away in 2010. Bob worked at Collins Radio as an electronics electrician for 17 years. He then worked for Lefebure Manufacturing building bank vaults. Bob was a handyman and he enjoyed woodworking, trapshooting and was an avid reader. He adored his grandchildren and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Memorials may be directed to the family. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.teahenfuneralhome.com.
