Former Hawkeye returns to play Kernels this weekend

Steve Turnbull, former University of Iowa Hawkeye pitcher, is in town with the Lansing Lugnuts this weekend as they take on the Kernels.
This is Turnbull's second season in the Midwest League with the Lugnuts, the Midwest League affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays.
He was selected to the Midwest League All Star game this year. He leads the Midwest League with 14 saves. He has an earned run average of 2.42 in 21 appearances out of the bullpen. He has struck out 24 and walked only 5 this season.
Last season, Turnbull finished with 21 saves and 69 strikeouts in 63 innings.
The White Bear Lake, Minn. Native was drafted in the 17th round of the 2009 draft by the Blue Jays out of Iowa.
As a Hawkeye in 2009, he compiled 43 strikeouts in 32.1 innings pitched.
The Kernels host Lansing for three games, beginning tonight at 6:35 p.m. Saturday's game begins at 6:35 p.m., and Sunday's game starts at 2:05 p.m.
