CHRISTOPHER TAYLOR BUSSELL
Cedar Rapids
Christopher Taylor Bussell, beloved wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, niece, aunt and friend, passed away on July 25, 2017, in Burnet County, Texas.
Chris was born March 11, 1945, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She graduated from George Washington High School in 1963, went on
to attend Mills College in Oakland, Calif., and graduated from the University of Iowa in 1967. Chris worked in the technology industry and obtained a C.P.A. later in her career.
She was an avid runner, and was passionately involved in her church choir, piano and writing. She devoted many hours to volunteering with CASA. She found great joy in spending time with her grandchildren, particularly in immersing them in the arts.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert; and her mother, Mary Frances Taylor.
She is survived by her husband, Bill; stepmother, Mary Susan Taylor; daughter and spouse, Susan and David Marx; stepdaughter and spouse, Barbara and Jon Laing; stepson, Douglas Bussell; brother and spouse, Robin Taylor and Richard DiBella; sisters and their spouses, Debbie and John Chehak, Susan and Tom Chehak and Meredith and Ulises DuBon; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Kaufman; her six grandchildren, Katie Bussell, Nathan Laing and Emily, Charlie, Adelyn and Lyla Marx; and many aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Chris was known by loved ones for her love of ballet, music, theater, running, yoga, singing, writing, volunteering and, most of all, her endless love for and dedication to her family. She was deeply rooted in her spiritual journey and found peace and comfort through reading and journaling her questions, learnings and understandings.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, because Chris lived her life in service of others, her family requests that friends of Chris and those wishing to pay their respects do so in the form of support and donations for CASA for the Highland Lakes, 1719 Ridgeview Dr., Kingsland, TX 78639 (www.highlandlakescasa.com).
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 29, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Marble Falls, Texas.
