Robert "Bob" P. Soppe, 77, of Manchester, died Wednesday, June 10, 2015. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 15, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Manchester. Family will greet friends from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 14, at Bohnenkamp Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, and one hour before Mass Monday at the church. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Manchester.
Bob is survived by his wife, Alice; children, John (Denise) Soppe of Manchester, Julie (Don) Pasker of Manchester, Jim (Karen) Soppe of Manchester, Jody (Mike) Ries of Ryan and Jeff (Stacy) Soppe of New Berlin, Wis.; 21 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Mark Swift of Marengo; and brothers, Dale Soppe and Harry Soppe.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jayne Swift; sister, Sharon Summers; and brother, Alvin Soppe.
Bob was born March 25, 1938, in Castle Grove, Iowa, the son of Sebastian "S.J." and Lucina (White) Soppe. He married Alice Sandman on Sept. 3, 1958, in Manchester. Bob owned and operated Don & Walt Plumbing and Heating in Manchester and also farmed. Bob served in the Iowa Army National Guard. He loved his wife, children, being a grandfather and especially attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting events.
In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial.
