VAUGHN EVEN
Marion
Vaughn Even, 75, of Marion, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. A visitation will be Friday, Feb. 12, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Vaughn was born Feb. 17, 1940, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Frances and Marie (Schmitt) Even, graduating from Washington High School in 1958. Vaughn was united in marriage to Adah McArtor in October 1959. They shared many memories together until her passing in 2005.
Von was a graphic designer for various local agencies until opening and operating his own, Advantage Inc. After dissolving that company, he opened Ad-Two Inc., as well as Cedar Ridge Publishing. Both companies thrived until Von retired from the industry. The agency served local, as well as national clients, and garnered acclaim and awards, growing to become one of the premiere agencies in the area.
Though a talented designer, Von's true love was photography. His skill behind a camera allowed him to be on the sidelines of such exciting venues as Super Bowls and space shuttle launches, but his favorite photographic subjects were his grandchildren.
Von enjoyed tennis and was an avid golfer to consummate poker player.
He was preceded in death by his spouse and parents.
Left to cherish Vaughn's memory are his children, Sheralee Willis, Suzanne (Bruce) Pokorny and Terilyn (Philippe) Limondin; as well as five grandchildren, Brittny (Curt) Sporrer, Michael Willis, Kyle Suther, Bryce Willis and Jaden Limondin.
Any memorials in Vaughn's name may be made to the ALS Association Iowa Chapter.
