Letter: Make Iowa great by working together

I am proud of the ingenuity shown by the Iowa GOP-led Legislature. This session they have it all - House, Senate and governor.
They campaigned on making Iowa great again, especially Iowa's education. Now they say 'No money!”, 'Next year!” and 'Cut! Cut! Cut!”.
The ingenious part is they found money from other programs to fund a new program. New, because they refused federal millions to bypass federal guidelines which allows them to remove a successful Iowa health care program that has reduced abortions, reduced teen pregnancies, reduced sexually transmitted diseases, given birth control guidance, provided cancer screening guidance, etc. and provided low-cost health care to Iowa's low-income citizens. It worked!
The new program denies funding to hospitals and clinics that provide legal abortions. No federal dollars pay for those abortions.
Chutzpah! Gall! They cannot adequately fund Iowa's education, but they can fund a religious power/control ideology. The Bible/Canon Law is not the Iowa Constitution.
Make Iowa great again by working together instead of ripping apart the social fabric of the state. The GOP can talk the talk but they cannot walk or even crawl the walk. They are pushing a religious ideology on us.
I want my tax dollars spent on Iowa's education and Planned Parenthood.
