David Roy Baker, 58, of Cedar Rapids, died suddenly Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at his home. Services: 11 a.m. Monday, April 18, at Cedar Hills Community Church by Pastor Kent Landhuis, with visitation from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
David was born Sept. 13, 1957, in San Diego, Calif., to Phyllis A. and Roy J. Baker. He spent his early childhood in California and Hawaii. In 1967, the family moved to Cedar Rapids, where he played football and wrestled. He graduated in 1975 from Jefferson High School and later attended UNI. David married Linda Baker (Lasche) on July 5, 1983. They later divorced.
David is survived by his mother, Phyllis Baker of Cedar Rapids; three sons, Brandon Baker and Josh Baker of Ely and Dillon Baker of Solon; grandson, Braydon Baker of Ely; and sister, Susanne Wakefield (Orin) of California.
David was preceded in death by his father, Roy Jay Baker.
David was employed by Toyota Financial Services for the last 18 years.
David had a love for old cars, golfing, hunting and fishing, especially in Canada with his sons. He was a member of Cedar Hills Community Church.
His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
