Georgia Lee Kost was born Dec. 15, 1942, in Anamosa, Iowa, the daughter of Nicholas John and Adelia "Gail" (Peet) Kost. She graduated from Martelle Consolidated High School, Martelle, Iowa, in 1960. She attended the University of Northern Iowa, where she received her master's degree. Every summer she also spent time in teacher's workshops to further her education. Georgia, a high school business teacher in the Columbus Community School for 32 years, loved teaching and trying to challenge her students. She was appointed Business Teacher of the Year for the State of Iowa, along with numerous other teaching acknowledgements. After her retirement, she was still involved with teaching as she volunteered to be a teacher's aide and was on the Columbus school board for several years. Georgia also was an active member of the United Presbyterian Church and held many church offices, and volunteered her time in the region. She also did missionary work in Brazil. Georgia had many hobbies, including taking care of her beautiful flowers in her yard, and judging items and entering items in the Louisa County Fair, where she received many ribbons. Georgia is survived by her sister, Carol Genovese of Bondurant; brother, Roger Kost and significant other Margie of Coralville; nephew, Chad Kost; and great-nephew, Jake Kost and wife Kate. Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, aunts and uncles.
