Robert W. Reth, 86, of Manchester, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester.
He was born May 11, 1928, in Earlville, the son of William and Elsie (Stolzenburg) Reth. Robert was a graduate of Earlville High School.
On Sept. 13, 1953, Robert was united in marriage to Louise Guthrie at Silver Creek Methodist Church in rural Masonville. Four children were born to this union. They farmed together for many years near Earlville. In 1973, they sold the farm and moved to Manchester. Over the years Robert continued to work for B and Y Grain and the Ryan Coop. Robert enjoyed dancing and spending time with his family.
Robert is survived by his wife of 61 years, Louise; three children, Russ (Dianne) Reth of Manchester, Karen (Chris) Schupp of Indianola and Shirley Reth of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Larry, in 1979; and a grandson, Stacy Reth, in 1977.
The Reth family requests memorials be directed to either Camp Courageous or the Good Neighbor Home.

Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12, at the United Methodist Church, Manchester, by Pastor Paddy Druhl. Visitation: 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home, Manchester. Friends also may call an hour before the service at the church on Monday. Interment: Oakland Cemetery, Manchester.
