Denise Deetz, 60, of Solon, passed away at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics on Friday, July 13, 2018, following an extended illness. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 22, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories officiated by Certified Celebrant Julie Freese. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the chapel.
Denise is survived by her husband, Ron of Solon; two sisters, Karen (Edward) Herring of Cedar Grove, Wis., and Janis (Michael) Gillaspie of Vinton; her mother-in-law, Jackie O'Neal of Western; a brother-in-law, Lonnie (Robbin) O'Neal of Cedar Rapids; three nephews, Nathan Gillaspie of Cedar Rapids, Christopher Herring of Cedar Grove, Wis., and Evan (Collen) O'Neal of Cedar Rapids; three nieces, Rachel (Steve) Colletti and Lisa Herring, both of Rockford, Ill., and Collen O'Neal of Cedar Rapids and a great-niece and nephew, Aidan and Carina.
She was preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law, Richard O'Neal.
Denise was born June 8, 1958, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Roger and Mary (Edaburn) Deetz. She graduated from Prairie High School in 1976. Denise was united in marriage to Ron on Sept. 6, 1976, in Cedar Rapids. She was employed at Oral-B Laboratories Inc. in Iowa City for more than 20 years. Denise enjoyed being outdoors, especially traveling, camping and going for motorcycle rides with Ron. She most enjoyed the time spent with her beloved family and friends. Denise was a devoted and wonderful wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
