CEC, a systems integrator that offers design, integration, and technical services in a variety of sectors, is consolidating its Cedar Rapids and Iowa City offices in Hiawatha.
The company's corporate office at 405 Boyson Road will continue to house its two-way communications and information technology teams, as well as CEC's sales, marketing, engineering, accounting, management, service, and human resources departments.
Office space at 915 Boyson Road, across the street from CEC's corporate office, will serve as the company's operations center beginning in February. The new location will be the hub for CEC's audio/video, fire, security, and health care communications teams, as well as the company's testing and inspection services.
CEC, founded in 1946 in Cedar Rapids as a small radio repair shop, specializes in audio/video, fire and security, health care communications, information technology and two-way communications. The company serves customers in business and manufacturing, education, government, health care, hospitality and public safety, as well as houses of worship.
'We're excited for this change,” said Aaron Fischels, CEC's chief financial officer, in a news release. 'It will help achieve greater synergy between two previously separate locations: our Iowa City and Cedar Rapids offices.
'Bringing these two locations together will better serve our customers nationally and in the Corridor area, which is home to more than 8,600 businesses.”
Fischels said the consolidation will mirror similar CEC expansions that occurred in Des Moines, as well as in Madison and Green Bay, Wis., which support metropolitan areas.
