Beunita Jane Gilbert Krall, 87, passed away peacefully at Cedar Manor Nursing Home, Tipton, Iowa, on Feb. 25, 2013.

Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 1, at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Online condolences may be made to . A memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at 11 a.m. Private graveside services will be held at a later date.

The daughter of Charles Francis and Cora Marie (Barton) Gilbert, “Beunie” was born Jan. 14, 1926, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Her family moved to California when she was a young child. After graduating from Fullerton Junior College, she returned to Iowa to attend the University of Iowa College of Nursing and upon graduation began her career as an RN at the polio ward of University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She was united in marriage to Robert James Krall at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Iowa City, Iowa, on June 22, 1951.

Beunie later worked as a school nurse in Riceville, before becoming a stay-at-home mom with her children. The family also lived in Corning and Adel, Iowa, and moved to Tipton in 1964. Beunie loved to spend time golfing, knitting, cooking and canning the bounty of her large garden. She loved the outdoors and spending time at their cabin in Cedar Bluff. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Athenaeum club, a state of Iowa high school gymnastics judge, and an election day volunteer official.

She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Brad) McQuillen, Shawnee, Kan.; granddaughter, Meghan, (Jamison), and great-granddaughter, Madelynn Herdrich of Carmel, Ind.; grandson, Joe McQuillen, Denver, Colo.; and granddaughter, Kasey Krall of Norfolk, Va. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; and son, James.

Memorials may be made in Beunita's behalf to St. Mary's Church, Tipton, or Cedar Manor employee fund.
