He has lived most of his life in this area where he was employed with the Iowa City Community School District for over 37 years.
Louie enjoyed the simply things in life, his country music, traveling to see the country stars in Branson and Nashville and other places. He loved the outdoors, especially working in his garden and doing yard work around his home and for others. But most of all he loved his family, especially as the grandchildren and great-grandchildren came along!
His family includes his wife, Barbara; two children, Michael Holderness of Iowa City and Teresa Holderness (Gary Young) of Iowa City; five grandchildren, Travis Slaubaugh, Dustin Hudson (Erica), Brittney Hudson, Brandon Hudson, and Ella Young; two great-grandchildren, Taylor Brown and Lucas Hudson; sisters, Lillian Embree of Arizona, Susan Harter (Charlie) of Iowa City, Sherry Goody (Donald) of West Liberty, Ruth Ann Poggenpohl of Riverside and Kathy Shankles (Rick) of Alabama; and brothers, Virgil Holderness Jr. (Linda) of Iowa City and James Holderness of Iowa City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Lawrence and John Holderness and a brother in infancy.
