Explosion in middle innings helps Kernels to romp over Beloit
BELOIT, Wis. - The Cedar Rapids Kernels scored six times in the fifth inning and four more times in the sixth and routed the Beloit Snappers, 12-5, in Midwest League baseball Tuesday night at Pohlman Field.
The Kernels (60-60, 29-21) got two hits each from Chad Christensen, Logan Wade, Mitch Garver and Alex Swim. Christensen drove in three runs, and J.D. Williams, Engelb Vielma and Tanner Vavra had two RBIs apiece.
Starting pitcher Ryan Eades (8-11) went six solid innings to notch the win. He allowed nine hits and two runs.
The teams play again Wednesday night.
