Marianne "Eloise"
Davis, 90, of Clear Lake, passed away Jan. 25, 2014, after a long illness.
Eloise was the daughter of the late Verna and Godfrey Allar; wife of the late John Charles Davis Jr.; the
amazing mother of Nancy (John) Jaszewski, John (SunAe) Davis, Jeanne (John) Stachovsky, Mary (Ron) Hammond, Robert (Ann) Davis, Theresa
(Gregory) Shea and David (Mary) Davis; the sister of Margie (the late Pete)
Tennyson, Betty (Harold) Bruch, Bonny (Robert) Weber, Patricia (Elroy)
Fry and her late sister and brother-in-law, Helene and Roy Moser; grandmother of Andy Jaszewski, Bailey and Bennet Hammerberg, Alex Stachovsky and Katie Scott; and loved by many great-grandchildren,
nieces and nephews.
Eloise was a longtime
Iowan. She was valedictorian at Thornburg High School and a graduate of
Iowa Success School. She was a Mardi Gras beauty contestant judged by Bing Crosby. With John, Eloise raised seven children in Ottumwa and Cedar Rapids, working as a payroll supervisor at Life Investors and paymaster at Century Engineering. After John died she relocated to the New Orleans area for over 10 years where she
was recognized by hospice as a volunteer, was the lead talent in a commercial after Hurricane Katrina and became treasurer for SESMA at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.
In 2012, Eloise moved to Clear Lake and was an active resident at Oakwood Care Center.

Funeral Mass will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church, 216 N. Court St. in Ottumwa. Visitation, with the family
present, will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
