ANN KATHRYN HARRIMAN
Marion
Ann K. Harriman, 76, of Marion, peacefully passed away May 11, 2016, at home surrounded by her family. Graveside services will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery on Saturday, May 14, at 11 a.m.
Ann was born on July 15, 1939, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Herbert and Sigrid (Overgaard) Lindner. She worked for 10 years in the office of Rath Packing Co. and Wagner Door Co. in Waterloo, then for 33 years at Square D Co. in Cedar Rapids.
She always will be remembered for her love for Elvis. She loved going to the different casinos with family, friends and neighbors. She also went to Iowa Hawkeye football games for years and couldn't miss a Chicago Cubs game. She took many excursions with her girlfriends, Joyce and Mary, on cruises, and to Memphis and and Las Vegas. Later when Al got sick, they would take almost daily road trips. She enjoyed working in the yard and having a garden.
Ann was a lifetime member of Machinists Local 838 and was a chief union steward for 20 years on the third shift. She attended Ascension Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her children, Robert (Lynne) of Cape Coral, Fla., Julie Speich (a very special caregiver) of Marion and Jody (Paula) of Davenport; her grandchildren, Jim (also a very special caregiver) (Amanda) Speich of Cedar Rapids, Nick (Jennifer) Lauren and Madison Harriman, both of Davenport, Dr. Megan (Dr. Sam) Steiner of Madison, Wis., and Matt (Abby) of Forest City; great-grandchildren, Sam Jr., Harper, Delaney, Noelle, Chloe and Adrian, who is due in June; nieces, Pauley Ann (Tony) Ahmed, Hanna, Les and Kit, all of Lincoln, Neb.; and sister-in-law, Connie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Judge Jack Lindner; and her longtime companion of 36 years, Al Bouzek.
She wanted to thank Julie and Jim Speich for the tireless and patient care they provided to her.
"If tears could build a stairway, and memories were a lane, we would walk right up to Heaven and bring you back again." Mom, you will be forever missed!
A memorial fund has been established in Ann's name.
