Pitt’s Conner to miss season
Sep. 7, 2015 2:57 pm
IOWA CITY - Pittsburgh All-American running back James Conner will miss the rest of the regular season after suffering a torn MCL in his right knee Saturday against Youngstown State.
Conner, the reigning ACC Player of the Year, rushed for 1,765 yards and 26 touchdowns last year. Against Iowa, Conner rushed for 155 yards in the Hawkeyes' 24-20 comeback victory. Conner, who stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 240 pounds, is a junior and will have surgery.
'Even with all of his success last year, James attacked his preparation for this season like he was fighting to earn a starting spot,” Pittsburgh Coach Pat Narduzzi said. 'He is a tremendous competitor and teammate. After he was injured on Saturday, James was constantly in the ear of his teammates, encouraging them and coaching them on the sideline. Our entire program shares his disappointment but we will also be behind him every step of the way in his recovery.”
