Sarah Christensen, 98, a resident of the Meth-Wick Community, died Wednesday, June 17, 2015, in Cedar Rapids. As were her wishes, her cremated remains were inurned next to her husband at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Entrusted with her arrangements is Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Sarah was born on Oct. 22, 1916, to Hugh and Janet Reid. She married Ernest H. Christensen on June 7, 1939. He preceded her in death in 1978.
Sarah is survived by two daughters, Karen (Christopher) Paterson and Cary Christensen, as well as two grandsons.
She was a lifelong member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Sarah served as a deacon and elder, and she taught Sunday school for 20 years. She was also a member of PEO. Sarah worked at Iowa Electric Light Co. and served as a principal's secretary for the Cedar Rapids Community School District for 15 years.
