Bronson, Mary Jane
Mary Jane Bronson, 84, of DeWitt, formerly of Maquoketa, died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Maquoketa. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lahey Funeral Home in Maquoketa, where a rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Maquoketa.
Mary Jane Bronson was born Aug. 16, 1928, to Gustave and Mary (McMahon) Ruchotzke in Green Island, Iowa. She graduated from Preston High School. She was united in marriage to Johnie Bronson on Aug. 27, 1947, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Maquoketa.
She is survived by 10 children, Jean (Jim) Trenkamp of Preston, Susan (Darcy) Keil of Baldwin, Kathleen Bronson of Maquoketa, Joann (Joe) Hovey of Wayland, Mary (Rod) Keeney of DeWitt, Terry (Brenda) Bronson of Maquoketa, Steven (Julie) Bronson of Saunemin, Ill., Patrick (Michele) Bronson and John Bronson of Maquoketa, and David (Deborah) Bronson of Clifton Park, N.Y.; 30 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one sister, Shirley Turner of Mesa, Ariz.; and one brother, Ambrose (Bernetta) Ruchotzke of DeWitt.
