Ross, Charles 'Chuck' Arthur

Charles “Chuck” Arthur Ross, 63, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital. Services will be 1:30 p.m. today at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, temporarily located at 3100 F Ave. NW. Burial to follow in Cedar Memorial Cemetery.

Chuck was born April 14, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Merle and Viola Hampton Ross. Chuck married Karen Hammond on May 11, 1968; they divorced on Sept. 23, 1984. Chuck then married Nancy Syrovy on Aug. 17, 1991, in Cedar Rapids. Chuck was an over-the-road truck driver for many years, as well as numerous odd jobs. Chuck liked crossword puzzles, playing cards, listening to music and going fishing.

Chuck is survived by wife, Nancy; son, Rod (Jamay) Ross of Haymarket, Va.; daughters, Sherry Ross of Cedar Rapids and Cherise (Jim) Yarrington of Mechanicsville; a sister, Josephine Dodson of Hiawatha; grandchildren, Ryan Ross and Luke Ross; three stepchildren, Becky (Rick) Geerdes of Cleghorn, Kandy (Jeff) Lorimer of Cedar Rapids and David Evens of Walker; and eight stepgrandchildren.

Chuck is preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Darlene Polton.
