I was in Pittsburgh last weekend. It's a city with great architecture, magnificent bridges, a vibrant downtown, all sorts of cultural and entertainment options.
This week, it's West Lafayette, Ind. It has the Tippecanoe Battlefield.
On with the Fun Facts.
1. Iowa has won three straight road games and five of the last six.
2. It's the first time the two teams have played consecutive games at Purdue since 1988 and 1989. The Hawkeyes won those two by a combined score of 55-7.
3. The motion ‘P' on Purdue's helmets this week will be made from tiny images of season ticket holders who submitted pictures of themselves in Purdue gear this summer.
4. Purdue has sold about 25,000 season tickets. Seven years ago, it sold 42,880.
5. Fifteen Iowa players have caught passes over the first four games, and 14 have caught more than one.
6. With UCLA's 62-27 win over Arizona State Thursday night, Iowa is the only team in FBS to have played all of its games this season decided by one score. The Bruins had won three one-score games before routing ASU.
7. Purdue head coach Darrell Hazell has coached at Oberlin College (twice), Eastern Illinois, Pennsylvania, Western Michigan, Army, West Virginia, Rutgers, Ohio State and Kent State.
8. Hazell's conference record in his last season as Kent State's head coach was 8-0. The next year, his conference record in his first year at Purdue was 0-8.
9. Marshall Koehn's 52-yard field goal last week was the longest by a Hawkeye since Nate Kaeding made a 55-yarder in 2003. It's also the longest field goal in the Big Ten this year.
10. Purdue has scored 31 first-quarter points. It scored 35 all of last season.
11. Iowa has 100 wins since the start of the 2002 season. Michigan has 99.
12. Purdue offensive coordinator John Shoop's wife, Marcia Mount Shoop, wrote a book called 'Touchdowns for Jesus and Other Signs of the Apocalypse: Lifting the Veil on Big-Time Sports.”
13. The Purdue band claims the 'World's Largest Drum.” But it isn't.
