Jul. 21, 2010 4:18 pm
Former Cedar Rapids RoughRiders Jeff Costello and Jared Beers were among 27 Notre Dame athletes arrested late Saturday night after police responded to a report of fighting on the block where a party was being held.
Of the 44 people arrested, 42 were cited for underage drinking, including Notre Dame football and basketball players. That group included junior football quarterback Nate Montana, son of NFL legend Joe Montana.
Costello and Beers were among nine incoming ND hockey players arrested. Notre Dame senior hockey defenseman Joe Lavin, who lived at the house where the party was being held, also was arrested, according to police reports.
