KATHREN "KATHY" HORNOCKER

Kathren "Kathy" Hornocker, 70, of Hiawatha, passed away Monday, March 29, 2016, at Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 1, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 2, at Sharon United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids by Pastor Kevin Moore.
Survivors include her husband, David Hornocker; her daughter, Jill (Aaron) Byrne of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Anthony Gibbons and Jay Collins; one great-granddaughter, Natalie Duffy-Collins; sister-in-law, Rita Hill; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Clyde Goldsberry; and her daughter, Marilyn Gibbons.
Kathy was born Nov. 9, 1945, to Harold and Ruth (Gottschalk) Goldsberry. She received her nursing degree at Iowa Methodist School of Nursing in Des Moines and worked at Dallas County Hospital in Perry, St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids and most recently at Mercy Medical Center. Kathy was a lifelong member of the Methodist church. She loved music and sang in the church choir. Being a nurse, she was passionate about caring for people and was a member of M.E.R.T. She enjoyed gardening and horseback riding but most of all she loved time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Sharon United Methodist Church or UnityPoint Hospice.
