MICHAEL ROBERT ACHEY

Michael Robert Achey, 49, of Cedar Rapids passed away Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center. A visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, at the Chapel of Memories. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Michael Robert Achey was born March 17, 1968, the son of Robert and Carol (Workman) Achey. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Michael was united into marriage to Barbara Butler on Oct. 3, 1992, in Cedar Rapids. Michael volunteered with Cedar Hill Booster Club for 20 years, as well as worked at Amana Refrigeration for 25 years, and security for 16 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR racing, and especially going to Knoxville and seeing the sprint car races. He was very active in his community. He was completely dedicated to his family and friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his father and daughter, Bridget.
Left to cherish Michael's memories are his wife, Barbara Achey; daughter, Mariah (Austin) Pinney; grandson, Rowan Pinney; mother, Carol Achey, all of Cedar Rapids; and sister, Tanya (Joe) Pudil of Minnesota; also nieces and nephews.
A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Michael's name.
