HARRIET ELIZABETH KRUSE PAULUS

Harriet Elizabeth Kruse Paulus was received into heaven on Sunday, May 7, 2017. She was born May 1, 1934, to C Harry and Ida Lohmann Kruse, in Iowa County. She married Donald Paulus on Oct. 28, 1954, in Cedar Falls. He preceded her in death on Aug. 21, 1977.
Harriet attended Iowa County Country School, Franklin High School, Cedar Rapids, St. Luke's School of Nursing, Cedar Rapids, and received her RN degree from Hawkeye Community College, Waterloo. Harriet was employed by St. Francis Hospital, later known as Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, until her retirement.
She is survived by her daughters, Casey (Dan) Paulus Macdonald of Cedar Falls, Lori (and the late Don) Dove and Toni (Delbert) Lee. She is also survived by grandchildren, Joy Carney, Hope Nardini, Mike Nardini and Jason Dove; great-grandchildren, Gage, Kaylee, Grady, Colin and Grace; niece, Marlys Woock; nephew, Randy Woock; niece, Linda (Ray) Nardini; and nephew, Randy (Jintana) Kruse.
She was preceded in death by her parents; spouse, Donald Paulus; stillborn son, Patrick; brother, Richard; and sister, Dorothy.
Harriet was a devoted Christian and raised her daughters in the faith. She was active with church activities including Bible school and confirmation dinners. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at College Hill Lutheran Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls, and also one hour before the service at the church.
Memorials to the family to be donated after services to organizations that Harriet felt strongly about.
