ARLENE B. JEKERLE
Cedar Rapids
Arlene B. Jekerle, 92, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died peacefully at home in Fallbrook, Calif., on June 5, 2016.
Arlene was the beloved wife of the late Joseph F. Jekerle of Cedar Rapids.
Arlene is survived by her four children, Patricia Larson of Naperville, Ill., John Jekerle of Long Beach, Calif., Ann Lewis of Glenwood Springs, Colo., and Kim Marton of Fallbrook, Calif.; along with 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Arlene was born Sept. 26, 1923, to Herbert and Blanche Kiel. She grew up on a farm near Lost Nation, Iowa, and was one of seven children. After graduating from high school, she completed nurse's training at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids and served as a nurse at a U.S. Naval hospital on the East Coast during World War II. After the war she raised her family and when her husband, Joe, retired from Collins Radio, they both became active in the antiquing business for many years.
Those wishing to celebrate Arlene's memory are simply asked to make a contribution in her name to their own favorite charity.
Arlene's family, friends and colleagues remember her best for her candor, diligence, kindness, intellect and generosity.
Final arrangements for the scattering of Arlene's ashes, along with those of her late husband, Joe, are being made privately.
