Bill Gardam, a division administrator with the Iowa Department of Human Services, has been named to succeed Scott Jamieson as president and CEO of Horizons, the Cedar Rapids-based family service alliance.
Horizons' board voted this month to hire Gardam, who will join the agency by July 12. He'll work a few weeks with Jamieson, who's leaving in August for graduate studies at Vanderbilt University in Nashville.
Gardam has more than 25 years of experience in health care, mental health services, developmental disabilities and human services.
With headquarters at 819 Fifth St. SE, Horizons provides services across east-central Iowa including Meals on Wheels, consumer credit counseling services, iCan children and family counseling, and mental health counseling.
