Leona F. Freiburger, 96, of Delhi, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014, at Regional Medical Center in Manchester. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, at St. John Catholic Church in Delhi, where a Mass of Christian Burial will commence at 6 p.m. Burial will be
at St. John Cemetery in Delhi at 9 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 28.
Leona was born Nov. 5, 1917, in Worthington, Iowa, the daughter of Conrad and Barbara (Ludwig) Bonert. She married Vincent Freiburger on Feb. 21, 1944, in Worthington. Together they farmed near Delhi, until retirement. Leona moved into Delhi, near St. John Catholic Church, in 2001, after Vince's passing, where she enjoyed the company of many family and friends. Many will miss her baking.
Survivors include her five children, Carol (Larry) Feldmann of Manchester, Jim (Cindy) Freiburger, Dennis (Cindy) Freiburger, Mary (Rick) Klostermann and Marla Mahoney, all of Delhi; 22 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vincent; a son, Larry; a daughter, Jane; and 13 siblings.
Memorials are preferred to St John Catholic Church of Delhi.
